There is increasing scientific evidence that healthy lifespan can be increased in animals. These studies have been published in the same journals as Nobel Prize winning discoveries and show without doubt that healthy lifespan can be increased in animals. In 2016 and 2018 papers in the scientific journal Nature which showed an increase in lifespan in non-human primates with a very simple intervention. Subsequently the Federal Drug Administration (FDA) in the United States has recognised aging itself as a legitimate target for a drug trial in man which is now ongoing.

It is relatively common in the US to have an awareness of these advances-a friend was on a University campus in the USA and over heard 2 professors in the gym discussing taking the medication Metformin themselves to slow down aging-this is the medication currently being tested in the FDA approved trial. GPs are excellent but there are not enough of them. GP appointments are short on time and not plentiful.
